At 80 Years, C.D.Mistry Still Drawing the Divine in Hindu Art

INDIA---The visual landscapes in these frayed, dream-like canvases are redolent with folk motifs and primordial imagery. C.D. Mistry was born in Navsari in South Gujarat, and his stylised folk and religious paintings resonate with the colourful hues of his native state. A recent retrospective of Mistry’s work titled ‘Divinity and Energy’ at Pune’s India House Art Gallery celebrated 50 years of the artist’s work and consisted of some of his most iconic creations.
