RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK

THE ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By Disney-Britton
"Adam" by Tullio Lombardo (ca. 1455–1532) returned to public view this week at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Following a major accident in 2002 at the museum, the damaged marble statue became the focus of a 12-year conservation effort. Tullio carved Adam in the early 1490s for a tomb in Venice, Italy. The sculpture and the story of its restoration are on view in the new exhibition "Tullio Lombardo’s Adam: A Masterpiece Restored," and that makes "Adam" my NEWS OF WEEK.
