NEW YORK---The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s highly anticipated “Kongo: Power and Majesty,” which opens Sept. 18, promises to pull out all the stops, not only to reveal the full range of creative production by Kongo artists from the 15th to the early 20th century but also to “radically redefine our understanding of Africa’s relationship with the West,” as the museum writes.
