Dallas Museum of Art to demonstrate why Islamic Art matters

TEXAS---"Spirit and Matter: Masterpieces from the Keir Collection of Islamic Art" is the first exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art from the rarely shown and internationally renowned Keir Collection of Islamic Art. Opening on September 18, the exhibition presents a selection of over fifty masterworks in various mediums—from rock crystal to works on paper, metalwork, ceramics, carpets, and textiles from three continents, from Spain to Central Asia. In February 2014, the museum announced the fifteen-year loan of one of the largest private holdings of Islamic art. This expansive show features 13 centuries' worth of work from three continents of Islamic artists.
