RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK
ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By TAHLIB, Curator
My head was spinning this week with urgent demands, and then I read the news about Siddiqa Juma's painting, "Ripple." The black cube at the center is Islam's holy Kaaba, and the swirling colors are thousands of pilgrims walking around it in prayer. My mind overflowed with images this week: (1) a grant panel; (2) a national arts education initiative; and (3) the A&O Prize but in "Ripple," I heard a message. God reminded me to step away from others demands and to focus on prayer. That's why "Ripple" (above) by Siddiqa Juma is our NEWS OF WEEK.
