Director's Comments:

The entries for this years 2011 A&O Prize reflect a diverse number of perspectives on religious imagination in Indianapolis produced through a number of differing mediums. Student orks included in the exhibition demonstrate a range of artistic approaches and dimensions including narrative, abstraction, figuration, and complex forms of temporality. In particular, many of the works invite the viewer to enter into and experience different religious practices and universes, helping to cause the unknown to become familiar and demystifying the esoteric.
