Niccolo Cosme's Catholic Inspired Imagery Promotes End of AIDS

ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By Tahlib
"Alone"
NEW YORK---Niccolo Cosme, a 30-something Filipino fashion and commercial photographer is coming to America blending Christian iconography with the issues of HIV/AIDS in what we at A&O believe to be the single most exciting photo exhibition of this summer. Winner of the 2011 Asia Pacific District Photographic Competition of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), his work has been described by A&O readers, as "electrifying" and it is certain to provoke some conversations during this heated political season, but that's exactly what religious artists should be doing anyway---right? While Cosme doesn't claim to be a "religious artist",  we still claim him as one of our own. The exhibition entitled, "Resplendor: The Blinding Light" opens in San Francisco on August 15 before heading to New York City on August 31, 2012.

ANDREIVENAL'S CHANNEL | YOUTUBE

PHILIPPINES - Resplendor (the blinding light) is the 2011 photography exhibit created by artist/visionary Niccolo Cosme. Illustrated with a visual symphony of concepts and imagery, Cosme digs deep into the current realities of HIV and AIDS in the Philippines, especially those experienced by our modern-day heroes, the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Resplendor provokes the senses, inspire action, and envisions a world where people are empowered and informed to make safer choices about their lives and their sexuality. This exhibit is coordinated by Action for Health Initiatives (ACHIEVE), Inc., in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). It is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines. [link]

MERRY CHRISTMAS from Alpha Omega Arts | A New Beginning

AOA NEWS
By Ernest Britton
Few contemporary artists create reverent scenes of the infant Jesus and his mother, and that is why "The Matriarch" by Niccolo Cosme (above) is featured here on Christmas Day 2011. Once upon a time images of Jesus and his mother were unavoidable anywhere that celebrated Christmas, but not so today. Old time favorites can certainly be found in museums such as The Mystical Nativity by Sandro Botticelli, (1500-1501), The Adoration of the Magi by Pieter Aertsen (1560), and The Adoration of The Magi by Andrea Mantegna (1500).

"Brotherhood of Men" by Niccolo Cosme
KOREA - Niccolo Cosme, a 30-year-old Filipino fashion and commercial photographer, beat more than 500 entries from Japan, Korea, Philippines, China, USA and Canada to win the 2011 Asia Pacific District Photographic Competition of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). "I use this imagery to easily catch attention, because of its iconic stature... most especially in our country, which is predominantly Christian. It's safe to say that it may look very Christian but I am trying to show you a totally different story," he said. Cosme said his award-winning work, "The Brotherhood of Men," which showed seven men dashing in the same direction, is a call "to all humanity to come together so we can reach our goals together as one."
