Movie Review: "Son of God" -- Believers Deserved Better

ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By TAHLIB
"We will leave the church at 11:00 AM, eat lunch," instructed a Texas pastor, "and then go to Edwards Houston Marquee Stadium to watch 'Son of God.'" Across the nation, evangelical pastors helped lead a "Theater-Take-Over" campaign, and it brought in $26.5 million during the first weekend. I was chastised on Twitter for criticizing the marketing campaign, but The Salt Lake City Tribune identified the issue best saying this movie is "more about faith than film-making." I thought the movie was okay, but I also felt cheated. Catholics, evangelicals and all believers deserve better better film-making. We deserve cinematic art like the upcoming "Noah" movie that is unforgettable but the only thing I will remember about this film was being chastised for criticizing the marketing campaign.
