MICHIGAN---Art lovers should stop by the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn and check out one of its newest exhibits, “Stories My Father Told Me.” The exhibit features the work of Helen Zughaib. The story-telling display shares tales told to Zughaib from her father, Elia. He would often tell stories of his life in Lebanon and Damascus, tales of family, community, adventure and morality. The stories inspired her in 2003 to illustrate, and in effect, copy them down on canvas. United for the first time, these 23 paintings represent personal accounts, as well as folktales retold.
