RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK
ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By TAHLIB, Curator
For artists, the "garden" symbolizes both paradise lost and paradise restored (Michelangelo, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Barnaby Furnas, Lionel Estève, etc.). It represents both a problem and a solution. A "paradise lost" of today is the decline of arts education in our schools; and a paradise restored is an increase of arts access from 17% to 100%. It's a restoration begun this week in Indianapolis, and that's why "The Garden" (above) by Deana Lawson is our NEWS OF WEEK.
