Given his occupation, it would be easy to forgive Steven Kolb for any acquisitive tendencies. The president and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America certainly doesn’t lack for exposure, surrounded as he often is by fine art and design. Still, “I wouldn’t really say that I’m a collector,” says Kolb, shooing away the self-aggrandizing notion. “I’ve been in the right place at the right time.” A fortunate set of circumstances means that the ever-modest Kolb has indeed amassed a collection—one that neatly mirrors his work and personality.
