Day #13 - Art for Lent: Doug Argue's "Genesis" #Lent2016
ART + RELIGION
By Aaron Rosen
Following his signature process, [Doug) Argue began by breaking the English test of Genesis into a jumple of letters, then distorting each one on a computer: Next, he turned the contorted letters into stencils and transfered them to canvas. He comments, 'What's important to me is the flux of language...and letteras metaphors for molecules, atoms, and chromosomes -- providing a system of combining and recombining with almost infinite variation, while providing continuity in the evolution of the universe, life, and language.'
