NEW YORK---Bronson van Wyck is one of those van Wycks — perhaps you’ve driven on their Expressway. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Mr. van Wyck, a 44-year-old event planner, has a strong sense of history, given that he is descended from one of the New York region’s Dutch founding families. Covering most of one living room wall — behind an inexpensive Venetian-style chandelier that was once a party prop, on which Mr. van Wyck has hung green teardrop-shaped glass pieces — is an unusual map depicting Britain and covered with tiny rows of numbers: "The Engagements of Their Majesties King George VI & Queen Elizabeth from 11th December 1936 (Until 1951)."
