New Year's Wishes From Disney-Brittons

Dear Family/Friends,

The Disney-Brittons of Indianapolis leave 2022 changed by the last two years. We're plumper and greyer but finally collecting again.

We both retired in 2022, a Gen Xer and a Boomer. AT&T sponsored a dinner party for Greg at the Point on Penn, and Indy Arts Council hosted a party for Ernest at The Cabaret. We are grateful for those send-offs as Bandanas replaced neckties and Birkenstocks replaced dress shoes. Immediately, we took a cross-country 14-day Amtrak trip with hotel stays in Seattle, LA, New Orleans, and DC.

We ended the trip with two months in Key West, Florida. In 2021, we purchased a condo overlooking the KW salt ponds. This past Fall, Ernest walked the beachfront daily, and Greg ran circles around the island. New friends from Annapolis rent the condo for the winter months, and we'll be back in May.

The 2022 highlight was the Father's Day picnic hosted by our grandson Tru and his dad Kai. Kai is doing great and is now a counselor for Lighthouse Services in Cincinnati. He's always been the pied piper for kids. Our nine-year-old schnauzer Kasey is doing well and enjoys spending time with Greg's parents when we travel. Greg's mom joined us in doing Wordle each day, and his dad sent Ernie his Reader's Digest for retirement reading.

Thoughts about Ernest's mom's passing in March 2021 are always with us. We again recognized her birthday on August 7 with a family art climb and art museum lunch. The family is honored that the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center established a fund in her name to support students (https://freedomcenter.org/engage/donate/).

After the profound sadness of losing a mother in 2021, we counted on your prayers, and 2022 was the blessing we received. As we write today from our winter home in Indianapolis, we wish you a wonderful 2023 and look forward to seeing you soon.

Happy New Year!
