MICHIGAN - A lot of big ideas have currency in Art X Detroit, the ambitious new festival that will saturate the city for five days beginning Wednesday. Planned as a biennial festival, Art X Detroit is underwritten by $1 million from Kresge and produced by the University Cultural Center Association. The Kresge grants rank among the largest individual artist awards in the country. The grants put no restrictions on how artists spend their money but includes themes that are both spiritual, such as Charles McGree and Ed Fraga (See above) to the mostly secular. [Source:
