Fujimura ws born in Boston to Japanese parents and later studies the ancient tradition of Nihonga painting in Japan. John - In the Beginning is part of a series commissioned by Crossway Publishing for an edition of the Gospels commemorating the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Bible. A committed Christian, Fujimura has written extensively on religion and aesthetics. He writes that the Gospel of John records 'the physical invation into the cosmos by the Creator'. [page 28/29]

Lent is the annual Christian preparation for Easter. "Today's Art for Lent2016" features artworks that illustrate the Christian "Battle between Carnival and Lent."

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
