GRAND RAPIDS -- Companions is an ongoing series of low-tech digital drawings that explores inequity and injustice across the globe. This is achieved by juxtaposing images of children and/or adults that often include similarities in visual terms, but most importantly reflect tremendous disparity in living conditions and individual circumstances. This references the widely held belief that your prayers will be answered only if you subscribe to Christian beliefs, but otherwise your plea will not be heard. What forces are at work in the belief held by many who call themselves Christians that God is not available to anyone who does not embrace Christianity? It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
