Illinois - Most Americans are Christian, whether they attend church or not is another question. One of the divisions in Christianity however has been the religious art divide with Catholics on one side, and Protestants (now increasingly Evangelicals) on the other. One way to begin to understand the divide is to experience a unique sculptural exhibition in Chicago this summer:
  • Artist: Katharina Fritsch
  • Location: Art Institute of Chicago | Bluhm Family Terrace, 111 South Michigan Avenue (on the corner of Michigan and Monroe streets), Chicago, IL
  • Date: Sunday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Price: $18 adult admission
  • Tour: A guided tour & dialogue led by Ernest Britton is included
  • RSVP: 317-755-8400
A native of the nation which birthed the Protestant Reformation, German sculptor Katharina Fritsch is among the most respected, admired, and critically accomplished European sculptors of her generation. She is an artist who roots her work in the personal, while engaging broad aspects of German folklore, religion and culture.
