Preservation Award Winner: Mary Holland for preserving closed churches

NEW YORK - Preservation Buffalo Niagara is recognizing outstanding preservation projects and those contributing to preservation efforts at its annual awards ceremony May 30. Mary Holland is being recognized in the 'Stewardship' category. With the announced closing of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in 2007, Mary saw an opportunity for a means of preserving and displaying the art and artifacts from closed houses of worship which had enriched so many neighborhoods. Upon completion of the sale, a committee was formed and the Buffalo Religious Arts Center (BRAC) came into being. [link]
