CALIFORNIA---"They were done by the renowned religious artist Hector Serbaroli in 1943," said Monsignor Craig A. Cox, rector and president of St. John's Seminary. The artist painted the images in a studio before transferring them to the seminary. The paintings are located in the oratory, a place of prayer that is part of the chapel complex at the seminary. "Each of the paintings captures something precious in our Catholic faith," Cox said. The restoration, which began July 9 and is expected to take about two months to complete, will cost about $25,000.
