CALIFORNIA---For Mormons, continuing the growth of family is at the core of their religious expression, and this often puts them at odds with homosexuality. In a new film hower, "Families are Forever" premiering on June 22nd at the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, a team of film-makers chronicle the journey of a devout Mormon family living in a conservative community who grow to embrace the sexual orientation of their 13-year old gay son. This new video adds to critical research-based educational materials the Family Acceptance Project is producing for families with LGBT children, including the first “Best Practice” resources for suicide prevention for LGBT youth and young adults and the first for LGBT Mormons in the Best Practices Registry for Suicide Prevention.
