MICHIGAN---ArtPrize 2014 has awarded its $200,000 Public Grand Prize to Anila Quayyum Agha for her installation "Intersections." Agha, whose ArtPrize entry is on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, is the sixth winner of the world's largest art prize for her 6.5-foot cube, illuminated from the inside, projecting its shadows on the surrounding walls as well as its viewers. She also shares tonight's $200,000 Juried Grand Prize with Sonya Clark for her two-dimensional entry, "The Hair Craft Project." An associate professor of drawing at the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University, Agha's installation captured the sense of the sacred and reflects it back upon the viewers. [link]
