Standing in the shadow of the Saint Louis Gateway Arch is the historic “Old Cathedral.” Formally known as the Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, it is the fourth structure since 1770. Inside is a large copy of Valasquez’s famed “Crucifixion,” as well as statues of Saint Louis and Saint Joan of Arc.
