Folk Art Fair Returns to Atlanta

Billed as the World’s Greatest Self-Taught Art Show and Sale, Folk Fest will celebrate 17 years in Atlanta with a three-day show slated for Aug. 20-22 at the North Atlanta Trade Center. Nearly 100 galleries and dealers will exhibit at the air-conditioned, 85,000-square-foot facility. The trade center is located north of Atlanta, off exit 101 of I-85. This Art Fair has been staged from the start by Steve and Amy Slotin, owners of Slotin Folk Art, based in Gainesville, Ga.

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
