ENGLAND--Stained glass artist Pippa Blackall has been commissioned to design historic St Barnabas Church's new East Window. She said: "It was immediately clear that the way forward was to rejoice in the freedom of the open space. An application has been submitted to the city of Birmingham for approval and the Reverend Freda Evans hopes the new window will provide a dramatic feature at the £4 million project. It is a "stunning piece of art, encouraging appreciation of the whole building", she said. She said: "This is a rare opportunity for Birmingham to have a superb work of religious art by an internationally renowned artist. The historic church was gutted by fire four years ago. [link]
