Buffalo, NY Church Forestalls Closure

BUFFALO NEWS

NEW YORK - The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo moved quickly to shut down more than 70 houses of worship during its Journey in Faith & Grace parish restructuring effort. The majestic St. Ann Church on Broadway and Emslie Street was supposed to be among them. But nearly four years after Bishop Edward U. Kmiec made the devastating announcement that the parish would be merged and relocated to another building, the church quietly remains open. The Buffalo Religious Arts Center, which bought the former St. Francis Xavier Church in Black Rock in 2008, has offered to buy the building with the idea of keeping it as it is. [link]
