"Chrsita at Auschwitz" by Paul Weingarten
NEW YORK - Enter the front doors of First Presbyterian Church in Clarks Summit, and you can’t help but notice the eight-foot-high, 13-foot-long oil painting in the entry area. Titled “Christ at Auschwitz,” this painting by Paul Weingarten is on loan to the church during the Lenten season from the Stony Point Center, a national conference center of the Presbyterian Church (USA), located in Stony Point, N.Y. With support from the Dalton Lumber/Do-It Center in Dalton, this large painting made the trip from the Hudson Valley to Clarks Summit in time for a special Holocaust Remembrance Service held at the church on March 27. “It’s one of the most striking pieces of religious art that I’ve ever seen,” said the Rev. Bill Carter, pastor of First Presbyterian. [link]
