30th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Mary in Bosnia

BOSNIA - Today [6/24] is the thirtieth anniversary of the first apparition to six youngsters in the Bosnian village of Medjugorje. While still not accepted as a true miracle by the Catholic Church, believers and pilgrims flock by the thousands this week to bear witness to what they believe is a thirty-year, ongoing miracle.  In 1981, the country of Yugoslavia held the small hamlet of Medjugorje. The country divided, the site of the alleged visitations by the Virgin Mary is in Bosnia-Hercegovina. The ongoing “miracle” has continued every day since June 24th, 1981. [link]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
