Sculptor Lei Yixin's MLK Memorial Dedication Postponed in Washington DC

WASHINGTON DC - Master Lei Yixin, the sculptor responsible for the Mountain of Despair and the Stone of Hope at the memorial stands in front of his scultptures. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial, a 4-acre monument of stone, trees and water honoring the slain civil rights leader located along the Tidal Basin, August 22, 2011. King is the first African-American honored with a monument on Washington's National Mall and the [now postponed] dedication [had been scheduled for] Sunday, August 28, the 48th anniversary of his "I Have A Dream" speech.  [link]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
