Happy Ash Wednesday, everyone. For those lapsed Catholics who forgot, today [Feb. 22] is the beginning of Lent, marking the start of 40 days of fasting and prayer. The holiday gets its name from the ritual of marking a cross of ash on one's forehead in honor of mourning and repentance to God. Even if you are not Christian, Ash Wednesday is a reminder of the power of ritual and the importance of sacred rites. It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
