I was the last non-Hindu of about one hundred in the Temple on the night of the 28th, such was the hospitality and enriching experience shared by our hosts at the Hindu Temple of Great Cincinnati. While still far from making stupid mis-statements and misunderstandings about their faith, I learned some fundamentals that will stick because of the way they were explained within the framework of the arts. I now understand that Hindu is not a religious term but a geographic term. The faith, philosophy, culture, and way of life of the people is called "Hinduism." Is there a name for the religion itself? My take-away is that this question is not applicable to Hinduism, but that the concept of God is call "Sanatan Dharma," and that the words "Hinduism" and "Sanatan Dharma" are used interchangeably. Now, on to the dieties...well, that's a different reflection on a different day.
