FLORIDA - With clanging cymbals, sonorous chants and blaring horns, the 10 Buddhist monks consecrated their mandala -- a multi-colored design of beauty, made entirely of sand. Then, one of the monks swept it into a heap -- destroying the ornate, yard-wide circular design they had labored a week to create. The ceremony capped several days of events at FAU [Florida Atlantic University] surrounding the visit of the Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling monastery in Atlanta. [link]
