INDONESIA - Who would have thought that contradicting Islam and Catholic religions could come together harmoniously—at least visually? This is what up-and-coming Indonesian artist Anin Baroto presents in his ongoing art exhibit, dubbed Indonesian Expressions, at the Diamond Hotel in Manila. “This [Christian-themed figuration] is something I’m very interested in, and with this exhibit I really want to introduce how Hindu-Islamic-inspired art can be used to promote Catholicism, and show that the two religions can get along well through visual arts,” Baroto says.
