The Pilgrimage that Transformed Artist Kappari Kishan into a Buddhist Artist

THE DECCAN CHRONICLE

Artist Kappari Kishan and works from ‘Gouthama Buddha’
INDIA -- When Kappari Kishan went on a pilgrimage to Nagarjuna Konda and Amravati, he underwent a strange transformation. The entire life of Gautama Buddha flashed before his eyes. The disfigured sculptures and fading edifices in the area fascinated him. These images remained in Kishan’s heart. “The visit made me a Buddha devotee, and inspired me to paint the series ‘Gouthama Buddha’,” says Kishan, whose art exhibition is on display at Also 8 boutique, Banjara Hills.
