Christie's says Tyeb Mehta's Mahishasura is one of his best works to be auctioned
UNITED KINGDOM -- An iconic art work by Indian artist Tyeb Mehta is likely to fetch up to £1.8m ($2.8m) at an auction on Monday, says Christie's. The 1996 painting, Mahishasura, is part of the annual London sale of South Asian art that will feature 112 works. Mahishasura recounts a Hindu legend where a demon-king produces a son through his union with a she-buffalo. [link]
