PENNSYLVANIA---Midway through their year-long 100th anniversary celebration, SS. Cosmas and Damian congregants continue to focus on the priceless elements of the events and traditions that define them. Up next, July 11’s guided tour of the local house of worship by two liturgical art experts: Emmanuel Utti, the Lafayette Hill artist who painted the dozens of religious vignettes on the church’s pitched ceiling, and Dr. Kim-Eric Williams, an authority on the work of Paula Himmelsbach Balano, the highly regarded painter and craftswoman who created SS. Cosmas and Damian’s striking stained glass windows. "Our church is one of the few churches to have a painted ceiling a la the Sistine Chapel in Rome," notes a history compiled for the parish’s 75th anniversary. [link]
