INDIANA---The King of Pop, Michael Joseph Jackson was born 54 years ago on August 29, 1958 in the state of Indiana, also known as the "Hoosier" state. Following Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, NYC-based photographer David LaChapelle created a series of religious-themed portraits as a memorial to Jackson whose genius and humanitarian impact were felt throughout his home state of Indiana, but also around the world. LaChapelle's photograph"American Jesus" is based on the traditional scene of the Virgin Mary cradling the body of Christ.

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
