Fighting Religious Hate Creatively. Americans Join the #Myjihad Campaign

In perhaps the most important religious ad campaign of our time, American Muslims in Chicago have launched the "MyJihad" campaign to teach the true meaning of the word "jihad" which is "an individual's striving for spiritual self-perfection." The campaign led by Ahmed Rehab is brilliant, grassroots and sponsored by Council on American Islamic Relations-Chicago (CAIR). While I applaud American Muslims for starting this campaign, real success will only come when American Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and also Atheists sign-on and show their support too. I'm signing on right now. You can too. You can support the campaign by purchasing merchandise; contributing a blog piece; sponsoring an advertisement; using the hastag #MyJihad on social media; or by making a donation to CAIR.

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
