$100,000 Mid-Year Goal Reached Using Crowdfunding in Indianapolis

INDIANA—The Arts Council of Indianapolis announced today that it has reached a significant milestone on its online arts funding initiative power2give (IndyArts.org/power2give). Total contributions to the site exceeded $100,000 today when a $90 gift came in to support Big Car’s project Bringing Art and Fun to 46235. To date, power2give-Indianapolis has posted 108 projects for funding between 73 participating organizations, and received gifts from 1,106 donors. This milestone was made possible with the support of Founding Partner, Chase – providing matching support to many of the funded projects. [link]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
