Russia’s Jewish National Fund to Fund Phase 1 of Bykhov Synagogue Reconstruction

RUSSIA---The Jewish National Fund of Russia will finance the first phase of the reconstruction of Bykhov Synagogue, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Jewish National Fund of Russia Roman Spektor said as he visited the architectural specimen of the 17th century. With regard to the functional purpose, it was decided that the building will host the Museum of Belarusian Jews. "The reconstructed architectural monument will turn into a center of spiritual and cultural life of Belarusian Jews," said the diplomat. Built in 1640-1650, Bykhov Synagogue was part of the defense system of the town-fortress, along with the Castle and the Catholic Church.
