The inscription above Christ’s head in "It Is Finished" reads,
"Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews," written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin.
TEXAS---The written word began as pictographs, or drawings, an art form in and of itself. Artist Sandra Bowden recognizes the beauty of text and brings together ancient manuscripts, musical images and statuary along with her own special touches to portray Christian concepts. Bowden served 14 years as president of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA). The Abraham Art Gallery on Wayland Baptist University campus presents “Words as Image; the Art of Sandra Bowden,” beginning Monday, Aug. 12, and running through Oct. 3. [link]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
