INDIA---Art has again come under attack from religious outfits with the cancellation of a play. 'Ali J', an English play based on Partition that was to be staged in the city on Friday, apparently did not go down well with some Hindutva activists. Fearing trouble, the police ensured that the play would not be staged. The protagonist in the play is a Muslim boy who is in jail. The play talks about Gandhian thoughts that the Partition was a mistake and Mohammed Ali Jinnah's regret on his deathbed about the deaths and destruction that accompanied Partition. [link]
