SAUDI ARABIA---Young Omani artist Mohammed Al Kindy made his debut at an exhibition in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia that invited creative minds to reflect on changing cultures. Called LOUD Art, the exhibition, which opened on May 29, featured artists from around the GCC countries, including Al Kindy, who was the first Omani artist to participate in the show, now in its third year. Under the theme 'Executing Culture Shock,' Al Kindy, who is a photographer and graphic designer, and 23 other artists created works of art that depicted cultural changes and their effects on society. "I used Islamic art to portray something as simple as junk food. It was a result of going to Friday prayers on an empty stomach," Al Kindy admitted sheepishly. [link]
