HOLLYWOOD---Folding social realism into a woman-in-peril thriller, “Honour” confronts the problem of so-called honor killings among British Muslims with brash economy and first-feature zeal. There’s nothing amateurish, however, about Shan Khan’s writing and directing, unless you count a weakness for melodrama and a pacing more suited to entertainment than to enlightenment. To that end, the actors work hard to sell a story that never slows to ponder moral gray areas or explain the religious or cultural underpinnings of the heinous behavior on display. [link]
