This week, Archie Andrews, the freckle-faced teenage comic book icon, sacrificed his life for his gay friend when hate came to their  hometown. "The way in which Archie dies is everything that you would expect of Archie," said Jon Goldwater, Archie Comics publisher. "He dies heroically. He dies selflessly. He dies in the manner that epitomizes not only the best of Riverdale but the best of all of us." Seeing comics as religious art, makes Archie's taking a bullet (above) my NEWS OF WEEK.
