President of National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Heading to Indianapolis

INDIANA---The Spirit & Place Festival returns to Indianapolis in November with an address by Rev. Clarence G. "C.G." Newsome, Ph.D., President, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The 2014 theme for Spirit & Place Festival is "Journeys," and Alpha Omega Arts put together a coalition of local groups to invite, and host the nation's leading expert on the journey of the Underground Railroad. Newsome was named president of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in August 2013. He is past president of Shaw University, and he previously served as dean of the School of Divinity at Howard University and oversaw the creation of a museum of religious art at Howard. He will speak on the theme "Faith to Freedom" at Indiana Interchurch Center on Saturday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. during a program which also celebrates high school students participating in a youth art exhibition titled, "Journeys to Freedom."
