COLUMBUS DISPATCH

OHIO---A reproduction of a modern Bible handcrafted using feather quills and traditional paints is on display at Kenyon College, where a scholar will discuss its creation next week. The Saint John’s Bible, featuring calligraphy illustrations made from materials including lapis lazuli, malachite, silver and 24-karat gold, was commissioned in 1998. Its seven volumes, holding more than 1,100 pages total, are each 2-feet tall by 3-feet wide. The Heritage Edition on exhibit at Kenyon is a museum-quality, fine-art reproduction of the original, one of 299 sets made to allow educational, religious and cultural institutions to share the artwork.
