Rev. Clarence G. Newsome, PhD is the A&O Clergy Advocate for 2014

OHIO---The 2014 recipient of the Alpha Omega Prize for Clergy Advocate of the Year goes to Rev. Clarence G. Newsome, Ph.D., President of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati. Since 2009, readers of Alpha Omega Arts have voted annually to honor one member of the clergy for their promotion of religious dialogue through art. After a nationwide search, the Freedom Center hired Rev. Clarence G Newsome as CEO in 2013. He is also a member of the board of trustees for Duke University, a former president of Shaw University and a former dean of the Howard University School of Divinity where he created the university's religious art museum. Rev. Newsome will be presented his award on Saturday, November 8 during a ceremony in Indianapolis.
