ILLINOIS---Barbara Levy Kipper will give the Art Institute of Chicago nearly 400 items from her collection of Buddhist ritual objects and Asian ethnic jewelry, according to Broadway World. Kipper’s gift will augment the museum’s collections of Indian, Himalayan, Central Asian, Southeast Asian, and Chinese art. A life trustee of the museum, Kipper is also giving it more than a dozen objects of African jewelry. Said Kipper, “When I started traveling and casually photographing in the 1960s, it never occurred to me I’d become either a serious collector or photographer.” The museum will stage an exhibition of the objects in the summer of 2016.
