INDIANA---Opening on January 6, the Saint John's Bible exhibition comes to the Indiana Interchurch Center art gallery this month. The 25 prints in the exhibition illustrate the unique blend of ancient methods, materials with modern themes to illuminate the text of the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.  The Saint John's Bible is the first handwritten Bible commissioned since the advent of the printing press in the 15th century. During the month long exhibition, a full-sized reproduction of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament which is also the Jewish Torah will also be on display.

Thank you publishing this image- it's a splendid example of what we Jewish artists call visual midrash (artistic commentary). Besides the work's intrinsic beauty, I like the way Donald Jackson has combined reading the Creation pictorially from left to right, as we do in English, with the numbering of days (indicated by the gold squares) reading from right to left as in the Hebrew language.
Have you seen the exhibit? It's been traveling since 2011, and is currently in Indianapolis.
